The son of Kingston's Mayor Desmond McKenzie was arrested and charged Friday morning by the police from the Joint Task Force based at the Mobile Reserve.
Reports are that about 1:40am, the police accosted a group of men at a dance along Waltham Park Road.
Marcus Desmond McKenzie, 30, was searched a quantity of ganja was found in his left pocket.
<span style="font-weight: bold">He reportedly tried to free himself from the grasp of the police <span style="font-style: italic">despite being encouraged by the crowd to cooperate</span>.</span>


Mr. McKenzie, who resides at Waterworks in St. Andrew, was taken to the Hunts Bay Police Station and charged with illegal possession of ganja and resisting arrest.
He was offered bail and is scheduled to appear in court on March 4.
